Apparently he's rumored to be a 15-20 range talent, the CAVS pick at 25. He's a good shooter, the CAVS need a good shooter.
Assuming they'd have to move up a bit to get him, you think JJ will be a good NBA shooter? Can he be a Kerr/Paxson type guy? More? Less?
I know nothing about college baxgetball, but I do know that the CAVS have been trying to get a shooter for years and nobody pans out. Jason Kapono, Luke Jackson, Sasha Pavlocic, Damon Jones...

Reddick is the best pure shooter I've seen in years, and I think he'll be a better player than Kerr and/or Paxson. He'd benefit greatly from playing with a guy like James who could draw coverage and kick.
ETA: ESPN has Reddick going to Orlando at #11.

Reddick is a good shooter, but I also think he's a bit overrated. Salim Stoudemire had a better 3 point % last year, but didn't get picked until late in the draft. I don't see what Reddick has over him; he doesn't play defense, he can't create off the dribble, he's too short to be a SG. If you watch Duke play, there plays for Reddick all had multiple screens because any kind of switch and he couldn't get a shot off. I'm calling it as a bust.

Why would James have to kick it out if all he has to do is clear the defenders out with his off arm? :headscratch:

I think your anti-Duke bias is showing a bit here. I am not a big Duke fan either, but Reddick will be a 10-year+ guy in the NBA. He will never be a superstar, but he'll get 15 ppg just because he can flat-out shoot. Also, I think his athleticism is underrated by most.

Actually, I'm not an anti-duke guy though. I'm a huge Battier fan and I thought Jay Williams was the best college pg I had seen in 10 years. It's not really Duke, but I do think J.J. is terribly overrated. The NBA is all about creating your own shot... they don't have enough shot clock to run plays with triple screens for one player and he's not tall enough or quick enough to do it on his own.
If we're talking about Maryland, UGA, South Carolina, or NCState; in that case it's true... I hate them. :D

Stoudamire only took 238 threes in his final year in college... 6.6 per game. Reddick took 330 threes in his final year... 9.2 per game. That means Stoudamire was picking and choosing his bombs a lot more than Reddick. These guys in the NBA can hit 70% plus if you let them stand there uncontested. It's all about whether you can score in a variety of situations. That's what was so good about Reggie Miller (and Rip Hamilton to a lesser degree), you could chase him around all day but all he needs is a small window from anywhere within 25 feet and he's got it. Can Reddick run around relentlessly like those guys? I'm not sure, but from bigmarc's description of the plays they run from it sure sounds like he's had practice at it.
