# 29 -- Mike Hart, RB, Michigan
Height/Weight: 5-9 -- 193
Class: Junior, 2L
Hometown: Syracuse, NY
High School: Onondaga HS
Career Stats:
YEAR ATT YDS AVG LNG TD REC YDS AVG LNG TD FUM LST
2004 282 1455 5.2 34 9 26 237 9.1 39 1 0 0
2005 150 662 4.4 64 4 16 154 9.6 34 1 0 0
Who is he:
Hart exploded on the scene as a true freshman and made the Wolverines forget about losing Chris Perry to the NFL. He's a smallish-quick RB, but got the job done as a freshman with a 5.2 yards per carry average on his way to season with over 1500 total yards. In 2005, he took a small step back as injuries hampered his season. His YPC dropped as did all of his stats, but I still think he has the makings of a special player. His size and quickness make him a hard RB to stop, and he should have another couple of years in Ann Arbor to rack up some impressive stats. To take his game to another level, he needs to be more productive catching the ball out the backfield. He's not a threat of that right now, with only 42 catches in 2 years.
Notes:
- Doak Walker Award candidate
- 2004 Freshman All-American
- 2004 Big Ten Freshman of the Year
- All-Big Ten first team in 2004.
What to Expect in ’06:
Hart has some other RBs on his heels as he starts his 3rd year at Michigan. If he falters early, don't be suprised to see him lose his job. That said, I think he's a big talent and he should be able to hold everyone off this year. You might not get the same feeling from everyone, but I see a return to his freshman season numbers.
Projection: 270 Carries, 1400 yards. 10 TDs rushing.
