# 28 -- James Davis, RB, CLEMSON
Class: Sophmore
Hometown: Atlanta, GA
High School: Douglass High School
Height / Weight: 6-0 / 205
Position: RB
Career Stats:
YEAR ATT YDS AVG LNG TD REC YDS AVG LNG TD FUM LST
2005 165 879 5.3 40 9 19 152 8.0 22 0 0 0
Who is he:
Davis came out firing in his first game as a Tiger racking up 101 yards on 19 carries (7 coming on the final drive) against the ranked Texas A&M aggies. From there, Davis went on to have a very nice freshman season that was interrupted with a broken arm in the NCState game after rushing for 143 yards and 2 TDs on 12 carries in the first half. He came back to finish the year out with nearly 300 yards and 4 TDs in the final 3 games of the year. He's got great vision and is a perfect fit for Rob Spence's one cut system.
Notes:
2005 ACC Rookie of the Year
Rivals 4 star RB 2005
First Team Freshman All-ACC
What to Expect in ’06:
Davis should improve upon his freshman season. Clemson has 9 of it's 10 OLmen returning (including all 5 starters), and has a system where slip screens will keep defenses from stacking the line. The only thing not in his favor will be the arrival of top 10 national player, 5 star C.J. Spiller (Bush comparison (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/highschool/05/23/future.comparisons/index.html)). If Spiller is half as good as he's being hyped up to be, there might be a few less touches for Davis. That said, he should still get the majority and will post better #s than his freshman seeason.
Projection: 230 rushing attempts, 1170 yards, 20 receptions, 200 yards; 15 Total TDs.
