# 27 -- Antoine Cason, DB, Arizona

Class: Junior
Height: 6-0 Weight: 182
Hometown: Long Beach, Calif.

Career Stats:

2004: 70 tackles (54 solo), 5.5 TFL, four interceptions, six pass breakups, and three forced fumbles

2005: 50 tackles, 2.5 for a loss, three interceptions, and five passes defensed

Who is he:
Cason is my top rated cornerback returning this year as he plays his junior year for the Arizona Wildcats. The team is far from it's desert swarm defense days, but Cason is a standout player for Stoops to build his defense around. He normally plays the strong-side of the field and can lock down most receivers one on one without any help over the top from a safety. He's got a good size and speed combo and good footwork that rarely allow him to get burned for big gains. He's been consistent in getting a few picks each year even though opposing teams in the pass-happy Pac10 generally stay away from his side of the field. He's also solid in run support and a sure tackler. Expect Cason to be a first rounder when he decides to declare.

Notes:
- Has started every snap in his 3 years
- Second-team All-Pac-10 honors in 2005
- All-Pac-10 honorable mention 2004
- Sporting News freshman All-America teams 2004
- TSN’s All-Pac-10 freshman team selection and Pac-10 defensive freshman of the year honors
- Rivals.com freshman All-America club 2004

What to Expect in ’06:
Cason should have another dominant season shutting down the opposition. His stats by not project as completely dominant, but he is the best CB in the nation and the other coach's know this. I don't expect a huge stat increase, but Cason will make other team's pay if they throw to his side of the field.
2006 projection: 60 Tackles, 4 INTs, 15 PBUs, 2 Forced Fumbles
