# 26 -- Jamarcus Russell, QB, LSU
# 4
Position - QB
Height: 6-6
Weight: 252
Class: Junior
High School: Williamson HS
Hometown: Mobile, Ala.
Career Stats:
Year Comp/Att Yards Comp% TPA TD INT QB Rating
2004 73 144 1053 50.7 7.31 9 4 127.19
2005 188 311 2443 60.5 7.86 15 9 136.56
Who is he:
Jamarcus Russell is a huge QB that's still improving. Standing in at 6'6 and 250 lbs, Russell is a tough QB to bring down, and he's got a cannon for an arm. He lead LSU last year to the SEC Championship game, and a very good record inspite the turmoil caused down that way by the hurricane. Russell, in his first year under Les Miles, improved his stats across the board, with possibly the most impressive stat being that he raised his completion percentage by 10%. Miles has an impressive stable of QBs right now with Russell leading the way, but a talented Matt Flynn right behind him, and a highly touted Ryan Perriloux coming off his red-shirt season. Russell should be firmly entrenched at this time though, and should continue to show improvement.
Notes:
- Preseason All American 2006
- Preseason All SEC 2006
- All SEC 2005
What to Expect in ’06:
Assuming he can retain his position at starter, I expect better #s for Russell in his 2nd full year of starting for the Tigers. The schedule will have a quite a few tough defenses on it, but LSU has the talent to play with anyone in the nation. If he can keep his completion percentage hovering at 60%, I expect big passing numbers for Russel and the Bayou Bengals.
Projection: 185 for 300 for 2600 yards. 20 TDs, 10 INTs
