# 25 -- Joe Thomas, OL, WIS
Class: Senior
Position: OL
Height/Weight: 6-8/306 lbs.
Born: 12/4/84
Hometown: Brookfield, Wis.
HS: Central
Career Stats:
He's a lineman; dont' have any stats.
Who is he:
Joe Thomas is the best Offensive Lineman in college football, period. He paved the way for Brian Calhoun last year and will be the most important part to the Wisconsin run game this season. He's a beast at 6'8'' and 300+ lbs, but he's also very athletic and has great footwork. He's quick enough to defend the outside on a speed rush, and strong enough to keep a DE from bull rushing him as well. It's not a strech to say he's a lock for a top 10 pick in the NFL draft next season as he's probably the best offensive lineman since Gallery came out of Iowa a couple of years ago.
Notes:
- Named in the preseason by Street & Smith as honorable mention All-American offensive lineman
- Academic All-Big Ten
- Preseason All-American 2006
What to Expect in ’06:
Wisconsin might be in a transistion year with Barry Alverez gone, but Thomas should keep paving holes for whomever is taking handoffs in the UW backfield. Barring injury, expect him to get lots of hype nearing the end of the year and possibly sneak into the top 5 draft picks next spring.
