We have Nortel ones. They seem OK. As long as your network is decent they should do fine.

I recently upgraded one of my remote offices to a pure IP network (voice and data). We needed a way to get phone service from our main office to a remote office about a quarter mile away but that remote office needed the same functionality as if it were located at our site.

Andalso, the powers that be gave us all of 3 weeks to provide a solution so we had 0 time for testing. We have a Cisco wireless bridge connecting the 2 offices and run both data/voice across that bridge. Its awful. We average 4-6 dropped calls per week and about 4-6 complaints of static or echoing, echoing, echoing, echoing.

The IP phones I have installed at the main site are fine, no problems once we changed to all Cisco POE switches woth QOS. We are running an Avaya s8500 processor with a and older G3si switch. At the remote location we have an s8300 LSP with a G700 media gateway.

As AW eluded, you need to make sure your network infastructure on point before you make the leap. Personally, I dont see what the hype is all about. Unless you are building a new building and trying to make a simpler wiring scheme, its doesnt seem nearly worth the cost and hassle.

There is a tweak for the echo. Ours was bad too, but after we tweaked it we've had no echo.
