# 16 -- LaRon Landry, S, LSU
Position: FS
Height: 6-2
Weight: 204
Class: Senior
High School: Hahnville HS
Hometown: Ama, La.
Career Stats:
2003: 80 Tackles, 3.5 TFL, 2 INTs
2004: 92 Tackles, 3 Sacks, 4 INTs
Who is he:
LaRon Landry has been the most productive FS in the SEC in possibly the last 20 years. He's got good size, good speed, and great instincts. He's a sure tackler to any RBs that get through the front 7 and will lay out WRs with regularity if they try to go over the middle. He's got the size to match up with bigger WRs, but the speed to take slot guys 1 on 1 as well. He's one of the most complete, NFL ready players in the NCAA this year and his transition to the next level should be a smooth one. Landry's upside is on par with the great Miami safeties Ed Reed and Sean Taylor, and should be a top 10 pick in the 2007 Draft.
Notes:
2004 Second-Team All-SEC (SEC Coaches)
2004 SEC Academic Honor Roll
2003 First-Team Freshmen All-American(Football Writer's Association, Collegefootballnews.com)
2003 Second-Team All-SEC (AP)
2003 Freshmen All-SEC Team (Coaches, Knoxville News-Sentinel, The Sporting News)
What to Expect in ’06:
Les Miles came into LSU replacing a National Championship winning coach in Nick Saban. In spite of staff turnover and distractions from the hurricane season, LSU had an outstanding season only losing against Tennessee and UGA in the SEC Championship. They ended their season on a high note as well, stomping Miami in the Peach Bowl. Landry is the key to maintaining that level of success this year. LSU's defense needs to be top notch in the SEC, and Landry will head that unit up in his senior season. His leadership is unmatched, and he should have another productive year tackling and making big plays.
Projection: 85 Tackles, 8 TFL, 4 INTs
