Twelve freshman saw the field Saturday night at Georgia Tech, which is really astoundingly high given that it was a road game (not eveyrone goes) and that it was close (no mop-up time). What's even more telling is that only eleven sophomore and juniors COMBINED saw game action. I don't have any idea what the breakdown is between those classes, but you know something is seriously, seriously wrong when fewer than ten juniors are seeing game action at all, let alone starting.

This stat highlights how shitty Willingham's recruiting was and how next year is going to be, well, interesting.

Charlie's definitely recruiting better... I don't think Ty gave up, he just wasn't qualified yet for that job -- they took a chance and were partially bullied into hiring him, and it didn't work out.

btw, Clemson played 19 freshman (8 true) on Saturday.

Everything you read about Ty's recruiting (and his assistants) points to laziness. He was on the golf course more than the recruiting trail. He was contacting other schools about his future rather than concentrating on Notre Dame's future. I think he gave up on Notre Dame. Moral: Never trust a Michigan State grad.

As for Clemson's freshman play, I'm sure that much of that had to do with it being a blowout home game. You won't see 19 freshman in against BC.

Did Jamie Cumbie play?

Yeah Cumbie played... he's every bit of 6'7''. If he could put on 20-30 lbs, he'd already be a beast.

I'd expect we do have probably 15 of those true and redshirt freshman on the field this weekend. I am certain there will be at least 10-12.

There is no restriction on the number of players that can travel to OOC games, so I'm guessing Notre Dame carries a full roster to road games.

BTW, I believe USC had about 15 or so freshman play against Arkansas!

They do not carry a full roster to road games.
