Story (http://www.comcast.net/sports/index.jsp?cat=SPORTS&fn=/2006/09/27/486112.html&cvqh=to_to)
First thing I thought when I saw Owens attempted suicide (with a friend present) was the FAI article Owens Doesn't Get the Attention He Needs...
How much attention will ever be enough for this guy? Maybe now someone will step up and admit his egomania is pathological, has been for years, and give the dude the REAL attention he needs (paging Dr. Larry, Dr. Curly, Dr. Moe), instead of aggravating it with spotlights and microphones.

So I will voice my take on this since its such a huge topic here and there is so much traffic:
At first I thought BS....no way. Then as I watched TV and scoured the interweb throught the day today I thought/hoped it was just misinformation at its worst (there seems to be a lot of that these days in the news). And being a Cowboys Homer, and a T.O. fan in general I am glad this is seemingly over.......seemingly. Now even the Dallas Morning News, a newspaper that should be backing him 100%, is obviously still in doubt regarding the veracity of the reports we have heard. They still think he tried to kill himself:

In light of these facts, I can see this as a suicide attempt. But equally I can understand the run of misinformation that transpired today. So Im torn......
But......something still doesnt make sense. In the 2:30 press conference Parcells said he hadnt seen T.O., talked to him, and that he basically didnt know anything........but yet T.O was at practice catching balls from Bledsoe and Romo. So unless I have my facts unstraight.....something here stinks.
If this wasnt a suicide attempt, then the reports and explainations and excuses make sense. But if he did, the actions of all parties involved make perfect sense. Lets just say for the sake of arguement that he did, infact, attempt suicide. The Cowboys organization finds out and goes into damage control mode. The certainly have the clout to ask the police not to release any information, regardless of what the official police report says. They have to be thinking, "the only way we can really make this thing look legit is if he is back to his normal routine asap. We need to get him on the field and at practice so the world 'looks' normal to the overzealous media who will be chomping at the bit to crucify T.O.." And there is PFT's column that states that his publicist isnt even a real publicist which leads me to believe she is much much more than "working for him."
And I am sure that there are many many media types with far too little to do than to let these discrepencies go uninvestigated. It took Yahoo a month or more to uncover the Reggie Bush scandal from its onset, I fear it will take much less time for somebody to connect the missing peices here and report that whatever was reported today was very very far from the truth.
