If he dies, we'll never know about it.

That's a possibility, or it could be that he and every member of his family simply disappear in an instant, never to be seen or heard from again.

Conspiracy theory:
He's been dead since Saturday. Cheney's told the doctor to lie and say the guy was recovering on Sunday, suffered a mild heart attack on Monday, then suffered another heart attack and died on Tuesday.

It's like that old joke:

Guy goes on vacation and leaves his brother caring for Mom and the cat.

After a couple of days, he calls home:

"Hiya Fred, how's the cat?"

"Cat's dead."

'WHAT? GOD! Couldn't you have broken that news to me a bit more gently?"

"How could I make it gentle? The cat's DEAD!"

"Well, today you could have just said, 'cat's on the roof and won't come down.'"

"Then when I call tomorrow, you could say, 'firemen are trying to get the cat down.'"

"Then the day after that, I call and you say that the cat fell and died. It's much more gentle that way."

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Sorry."

"Well anyway...how's Mom?"

"Mom's on the roof and won't come down.'"
