Ideas to discourage picking up and dropping starters everyday in an attempt to exploit free roster moves...I got no suggestions from others.

I voted do nothing, but I'd like to change my vote to 'add losses' if possible.

i know i didn't suggest it earlier, but i believe adding winning percentage would be a better solution than adding losses (which is what i voted for). that way you would keep the same number of categories and still be able to incorporate losses into the mix.
one note about Walks is that they are already counted into one's WHIP, so adding them as a separate category basically penalizes a pitcher twice for a walk, which i think is unfair.

Of course we wouldn't have to change a thing if you would decide to refrain from doing this...
cmh did this in GHBI and after much bitching from other members, he stopped last year (along with the 70 maximum moves for the year)... You can easily refrain from doing it as well...

and just why the hell would i do that? if i recall, last year i actually was limited by yahoo and ran out of innings to pitch the last couple weeks of the year, and yet you bozos still couldn't catch me. don't fucking hate on me for playing WITHIN THE RULES. jesus christ.

also, if i do recall correctly, i was not the owner with the highest number of roster moves last year. in fact i'm not sure i was even 2nd highest.

Nate is free to do what the rules allow. Which is why we're modifying the rules. :)
Good point on walks; I'd thought of that but forgot when I vote. So I'm a change from "walks" to "do something else," winning pct. Nate is from losses to "do something else," winning pct. And SD is from "nothing" to "losses."

If this is the only limit its pretty bad. I know ya'll probably don't really care but I may drop out if we play as we have the past few years. Set a number of add/drop per week. It's not that hard to do. Waiver wire would work just fine.

I'm down with this.

I'm not. Limiting transactions isn't fair. Modifying the rules to mitigate advantages that come from extreme strategies, is fair.

Well I disagree. Just because you say its not fair doesn't make it so. I'd like to see a vote on this.

It's been a consistent policy that transaction limits won't happen. Doing things to prevent "abuse" are on the table, however.

I voted add something else...and I agree with Swerski and Emoney that that something else is limiting transactions. It seems posty agrees with that, as well. Although the commish does not agree, shouldn't this be put to a vote with four members pushing for it? If the majority does not want it, then we can revisit changing scoring.

I am 50-50... I hate the day trading, but I really don't want to limit transactions per week or per year... But if limiting transactions is the only way to stop it, then I will back it...

I won't put this up for a vote, sorry. Transactions will not be limited.

3 league owners are for this. That should be plenty to nominate, 2nd and 3rd the measure. Man, you are killing this league.

How am I killing this league all of a sudden? There have never been transaction limits, and whenever it comes up I've been very clear about not having them. That's been true for years.
If Nate's not playing, what's the difference?

You aren't the only one in the league. That's the problem I have. If you don't agree with something you won't let it be brought up for a vote. It just doesn't make any sense.

Why doesn't it make sense? I started the league, I run the league, I'm one of the very few owners who have played in it every year. There are very, very few things I won't even consider. This is one of them. And even then, I've encouraged discussion--several times--on other ways to reach the same goal.
Again--the only person who's ever been able to consistently exploit the lack of a limit is not playing.
:hyper: i luv this league!@! i have never luved a league i was not in like i do this one!@#@! http://www.horriblewords.com/forum/Smileys/default/hugmeat.gif

torrid reminds me more and more of the GW administration every day.

Let's get this out of the way. Are going to vote on doing something about this pitcher issue? If so, torrid should just declare what he is amenable to and see how many owners are staying in the league. It would appear that we have some fraying of the peaceful coaltion.
Is OB1 in or not? Have we decided on ownership?

Last I heard OB declined due to both lack of time and lack of sack. :sadbanana:

This will never work. A league needs a commish that rules with an iron fist, much like torrid attempts to do.

I think fisting is vastly overrated as a selection criteria for a fantasy baseball league. But that's just me.
