I spent all night debating Kelly, a few other receivers and a RB and figured Kelly was really one of the few No. 1 WRs left, and borderline at that.

I know it was early, but every time I try to time picks, someone always nabs the guy I want. So I took Detron Lewis early. He has looked good so far in practice, and Amendola caught 109 passes at Lewis' spot last year.

It was sort of my same thinking with Unga. Probably earlier than most expected, but I knew he would likely be gone by my 2nd pick.

You are 100% correct on Unga. He would have been gone at #11. Good call if you got the player you wanted. I did a couple quick mocks to see who I might get and Unga ended up at #11 with me on one of the two.

College Fantasy Football has a much shorter season than the pros. In my mind, the most important thing is to get enough wins to make it too the playoffs. So many good teams have missed the playoffs by a few points so I really look at that when I am drafting.

laxref
08-06-2008, 01:29 AM
I spent most of the morning trying to decide between QB's Davis and White for my last pick. The difference for me was that there is less chance of injury for Davis (who will now break a leg on the first snap of the year). Last year I picked up White mid-season and rode him into the play-offs.

Kadaver

Mike Ford tied a Florida high school record by rushing for 200+ yards in 11 consecutive games.

I think he'll be a star this year for USF.

Bayou Bengal

Man, tough taking a TE as my 1st WR in the 4th round but it appears he was the best avaliable.

btw..in the other league I am in, Pat White went 1.10. And that league drafts from all BCS teams plus 10 additions. Think 4th round is good value for that pick.

Ford was a great pick. I just couldn't pass up on White any longer. Why? I just thought it would be fun to yell for the guy this year.... I got to visit Morgantown a few years back and the atmosphere was phenomenal....

Nothing wrong with Pat White here.

He's like a RB and a QB, especially with Slaton gone.

Extremely pleased to get Josh Adams here I had considered him with my last pick when I took Brown, so I am estatic that he made it back to me. He has a great chance to lead the ACC in rushing this season and make some noise.

De'Andre Brown is another interesting gamble at this point of the draft. I thought I might be able to get him a couple rounds down the line when I nominated So Miss. Of course, I was naive enough to think I could get Fletcher in the 2nd round.

mstella44
08-06-2008, 03:52 PM

Duk you must have been smoking something to think that Fletcher would be available in the 2nd round, as for DeAndre a bit early if you ask me, he may pan out but you could have gotten him a round or two later.

mstella44
08-06-2008, 04:10 PM
See, I think I might have gotten him at 5.03, but I don't think he would have lasted til 6.10. So I figured I would just make it a bit higher for the bust awards at the end of the year! LOL!

Benn would have gone 5.11 if not 5.10

Would love to make another pick tonight, but know the chances of that are slim and none. Don't know if anyone saw my note in the Add Your Team thread, but I'd really like to throw the idea around this off-season about making this a strictly BCS-eligible league. It would eliminate some fun teams, but would still create a much more attractive draft pool all-in-all imo.

Minnesota, Northwestern, Oklahoma St., UMASS (oops, sorry...already fired up for the alma mater's run to the finals against App. St.)

Oklahoma St and NW would be nice. Also in the SEC Arkansas should produce a couple of starters. I still like it the way we play though. The league wouldn't be the same without some of the wide open offenses like NMSt and Hawaii (now SMU).

I've been sweating Royster out for a while now. I was beginning to second guess picking Robinson when I did but it worked out. SeaOne was scaring me on the phone as he was thinking of taking a rb and I just knew he was going to say both Hoskins and Royster. That dude was evil, he kept saying stuff like I know you need another rb so I better get one now. I told him I was probably going to go a different direction than RB with the pick. Fortunately he went with the ASU receiver. :D
