I've been focusing on football the past few years and have gotten out of the fantasy baseball loop. I've been reading up on season previews and cheatsheets, but most of those are bogus anyway. My question regards a fantasy team that I am taking over and I have to choose 4 keepers. First a little background:

Scoring:
H2H, points based
1,2,3,ss,3 OF, DH, 5 starters, 2 relievers

1B - Singles 1 point
2B - Doubles 2 points
3B - Triples 3 points
BB - Walks (Batters) .5 points
HR - Home Runs 4 points
KO - Strikeouts (Batter) -.5 points
R - Runs 1 point
RBI - Runs Batted In 1 point
SB - Stolen Bases 1 point

CG - Complete Games 5 points
ER - Earned Runs -1 point
INN - Innings 1 point
K - Strikeouts (Pitcher) 1 point
L - Losses -5 points
S - Saves 5 points
SO - Shutouts 10 points
W - Wins 10 points

9 starts max per week for starting pitchers. must keep at least 1 pitcher and 1 position player. must keep total of 4 players

Now on to the roster. I've bolded what I believe are the possible keepers amongst this dreck (and yes, I'm getting a discount to get into the league with this team). Choose the top 4 or 5 that you would keep, pretty please...

C Posada
1B Konerko
Nevin
2B Cantu
SS Furcal
3B Beltre
OF Beltran
Alou, M
Jenkins, G
Mench
Everett, C
Wilson, P

SP Mulder
Hudson
Clement
Lowry, Noah
Sosa, Jorge
Radke
Perez, Odalis

RP Ryan, BJ
Baez, Danys
Benitez, Armando

TIA

here you go:
Beltran - no brainer
Hudson / Mulder - i prefer Hudson, but either one is ok
Konerko - some guaranteed power
Cantu - i don't trust furcal in his new digs (or his old digs). besides, his main assett is steals, and hopefully you get that from Beltran. (hopefully being the key word)

BJ Ryan scares me, he's got a lot of pressure on his shoulders, and if you only need 2 relievers, i think you can get them cheaper later.

thanks

I figure that Beltran and Konerko are no-brainers. After that it was just the decision between Cantu and Furcal and the one between Mulder and Hudson (or if anyone thinks that Beltre will ever bounce back).

I can name 5 now and then cut it to 4 the day before the draft so I might include both pitchers for now.

i suppose it's possible beltre bounces back. but he's really only had ONE good year. EVAR! so until he proves himself again in that big-ass ballpark he's playing in now, i ain't no believer. :hmpf
