Tough break for Justice as it looks like LeFevour is out with a sprained ankle this week. At the least he hasn't started the game and the backup QB has thrown a TD pass.

I don't start Briscoe and he goes for 269 yards and 2 TDs...

I'm the worst coach in this league......

Well it was pretty fun matchup against emoney, until the Tulsa-UTEP game started. Holy crap. No wonder this guy is running away with the points scored title. Can a quarterback actually throw for 800 yards in a game?

Ouch, Scorp. That stings.

Some dude from SMU is going to kill my chances for a win.

I'm starting to think we should alter the format for picking teams.

Screw SMU, Ball State, Rice, and whatever other bumfuck nobody school we use.

Or maybe not.

My scoring is never quite right, but from what I've got, my team got a close win in a very low-scoring game.

This is maybe the best rant in the history of this league. :hyper:

Yes, I love those guys. It is still a long season yet so I won't go patting myself on the back too much. Tulsa could have scored 100 in that game had they wanted to. Also, glad to see Bo Levi is getting in a groove. Just wait until June Jones gets a little help on defense and starts converting those huge stats to wins.

If you can wait a little bit I amin the middle of doing stats so I'll let you know. Have a cup of coffee and think about which Conference USA team you want to add to the pool next year.

Gotta love going into the evening games with a 90 point lead, ending up with 120+ points, and getting beat by over 40. It's like I was in a college fantasy football league, and an Area League Fantasy League broke out.

Are you telling me I had a shot? I pretty much gave up after the BYU and Boise State games on Thursday and Friday. I took a look at Sam Bradford's stats and I figured I got blown out. What was the score? 43-40?

Yup CMU f'd me, all news I could find said that he was okay and he should play.

Well, I know I got a 4 from WR Beckum, a 5 from WR Parker, a 5 from RB Ford and a 4 from RB Johnson.

And a zero from my defense.

Bradford and USC WR Ron Johnson were the only guys who did anything for me.

I think I won like 86-80 or something.

well if i wouldnt have forgotten my lineup that first time and put it in at the right time that was a win and i wouldnt have to worry about trying to get into the playoffs that much more. now i need a prayer. maybe my new rb obg from texas is my sleeper ive been looking for.

I had Bradford for 36 points.

468 yards passing = 23 points
14 yards rushing = 1 point
3 TD passes = 12 points

23+1+12 = 36

I also had Max Hall for fewer points than you had:

274 yards passing = 13 points
2 INTs = -2 points
TD run = 6 points
-24 yards rushing = -2 points

13+6-2-2 = 15 points

EDIT: And now I see that TDs are 3 points. So that takes 3 points away from Bradford. But Hall's rushing yardage should still count against him. If a guy runs for 100 yards, then loses 2 on his next play, a point is subtracted from his total. I see nothing in the scoring rules posted by duk that suggests negative rushing yardage will not be scored.

We have never scored negative points in this league. We just keep up with positive point totals and it keeps everything simple. If a player throws an interception or has negative rushing yards it takes away an opportunity for increased yardage and a potential touchdown as the drive is killed. You are really doubly penalizing a player with subtracting points.

I think that sucks.

If my player runs for 100 yards, then loses 20 on a reverse, I get penalized those 2 points for the 20 yards I lost.

How is that any different than losing 20 on the first play of the game and losing 2 points?

Either way, it's minus 2 points.

To put it another way ...

Player A loses 10 yards on the first play of the game and never touches the ball again.

Player B loses 10 yards on the first play of the game, then carries the ball 3 more times for 19 yards. He finishes with 9 yards.

You're saying those two players had equal games, but they didn't.

Well we will have to agree to disagree. The main thing to know here is that we have never counted points under 0. We can't just start doing it or I'd have to go back and redo hundreds of past games.

Oh, you should definitely score it as you always have.

It's just something I really strongly disagree with, and something (among other things) that makes me not want to play again next year.

It's nothing against you or anyone else in this league. It's just that fantasy football is supposed to be fun, and this league has just been tedious to me, not fun. If I weren't so invested in so many pro leagues, this probably would be fun. But between researching a bunch of schools I couldn't care less about, drafting from seemingly the same draft board as 8 other people in the league (which, to me, increases the luck factor 10-fold), trying to sort through the league rosters and box scores to see if there are any free agents worth picking up, and now finding out about scoring that I just fundamentally disagree with ... it's sort of drained the fun out of it for me.

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, and I'm not saying there are problems with the league. I'm just saying it's not *for me*.

Kadaver. We could always bring up this scoring change during the offseason. Don't forget that.

Regarding your comments on the league structure, yeah it does require a lot more research to do a league like this. This is mainly due to a lack of resources for draft research. Once the first few rounds were done, the lists on the net didn't do a whole lot of good. That is as much of a positive as it is a negative though. It is very much like the old days of NFL fantasy football where you can do some gold mining and everyone isn't walking in with the same cheat sheets. When a player breaks out in your later rounds, it is usually due to your own research that found that gem and it is a lot more rewarding.

I actually really like the wide open offenses being in the league. We do have some traditional teams in the league for those that prefer those players but leave it flexible to fit all styles.

Also, keep in mind that we have a few sharks in this league and it takes a lot of research to keep up with them. I think it is manageable though.

You have to at least stay in one more year since you have completely destroyed the credibility of my preseason rankings. :D You must make up for that.

That's why I'm saying I'd probably like it a lot more if I wasn't so invested in pro leagues.

Putting in the amount of time that this league requires for me to be as competitive as I'd like just isn't fun to me. It's more like work.
