So some chick who has my common-as-leaves-on-a-tree last name is apparently in credit trouble and they keep calling and calling and calling and calling. Should I call them and tell them I have NO idea who the hell this person is, or will they just think I'm lying and send some Guido out to bust my kneecaps, no questions asked???

I need the wisdom of the Inchers.

I'm askeered to call - they're calling to collect money from her and I'm afraid if I call back it'll just make things worse and they won't believe that I'm not the deadbeat broad and that they'll come to my house and off me.

Call them and tell them they have the wrong person. They found your name via Zaba or some other such thing, but if you let them know they've got the wrong person, they'll stop. If they don't, you can fuck 'em legally. Avoiding the calls just makes them more certain they have their deadbeat.

Just tell them that [force] you are not the person they are looking for [force] and that they should get their information straight before they decide to call you again. Otherwise they will be speaking to your attourney, not you.

Call them back, get their address, and send them a certified letter telling them that you are not the person they are looking for. If they persist in their attempts, you will be retaining counsel and will sue them for 8 trillion dollars.
