LOL. I was going to nitpick and say they should have chose the Broncos team that beat the Packers, but leaving the Pats off kind of makes up for it.

This team should be number 1:

2. 1989 San Francisco 49ers

• Team completed season with a 14-2 record and went on to defeat the Denver Broncos 55-10 in Super Bowl XXIV.
• The final in Super Bowl XXIII was not only the most points scored by one team, but also the biggest margin of victory in the Championship game.
• Ranked first in league offensively with 442 points scored.
• QB Joe Montana threw for 3,512 yds and had highest QB rating in NFL history at 112.4
• Montana earned NFL MVP and NFL Offensive Player of the Year
• WR Jerry Rice received 1,483 and John Taylor had a breakout season receiving 1,077 yds.
• RB Roger Craig rushed for 1,054 yards.

these bulletin points don't even mention Charles Haley, Ronnie Lott, Matt Millen, or Bill Romanowski. The offense overshadows their dominant defense.

I love me them '85 Bears, but the '89 49ers were a more complete team.

I think the Pats teams were left off because they never truly dominated opponents consistently, or led the league in catagories, like the teams on this list did.. All 3 SB's were close, and most games were close, with the exception of some dominating performances at home in the AFC playoffs.

that was part of the appeal of the Pats. They weren't really big name, marquee guys. They weren't supposed to win, nevermind become a dynasty.

The true appreciation for what the Pats did (and still aren not done doing) comes from looking at the whole body of work, over the 3 to 4+ years. They don't qualify for the criteria here... a team that was BANG! dominant for one year. Hell, this year's Colts may have more of a right to be on this list because of how dominant they were (except for the whole SuperBowl criteria, but you get the picture).

The 71 Cowboys ahead of the 93 Cowboys? Hogwash. That 93 Cowboys team was flat-out dominant.

Bogus List.

The 93 Cowboys would have beaten every team on that list.

This one almost made me throw up...

5. 1999 St. Louis Rams

• 13-3 record and beat Tennessee Titans 23-16 in Super Bowl XXXIV.
• 1st in league offensively with 526 points.
• Won every game in regular season by over 10 points.
• QB Kurt Warner took over Trent Green’s spot after just playing one game in 1998 and throwing 11 passes.
• In 1999 he threw for 4,353 yards, 41 TDs and only 13 Interceptions, won NFL MVP.
• Broke passing record in Superbowl with 414 yds.
• RB Marshall Faulk won NFL Offensive Player of the Year with 1,382 yards rushing and 1,048 yards receiving, second RB with 1,000 in each category.
• Defense led in fewest rush yards allowed and fewest rush TDs allowed.

Yes, they were a statistical machine, but they won the Superbowl by less than a yard. When I think of "best" teams, I think of ones that dominated during the regular season, in the playoffs AND in the Superbowl. The 1999 Rams were far from that, and at least do not deserve to be #5 on the list.
