after further review...the Drew Hensen additive makes this a good trade...
also not really.
Jay is in my division...so at least I lock up 2 victories before the season begins....

We play everybody once. Divisions only come into play to determine the playoffs. Thanks for playing, though. My take for anyone who cares..... I give up a 34-year-old WR with chronic knee problems and a long-shot QB prospect for a stud TE and a 2nd round pick.

also...congrats on the Henson addition...
couple that with addition of Vince Young...you have quite the QB juggernaut on that team.
I rank them:
Sims
Young
McCown
Henson

It seems that they don't. Crumpler is Jay's starting TE and he's a very good player. LJ Smith is in a situation with not much WR talent around him (Jabar Gaffney might even get to start there). Crumpler has missed games in prior years and LJ Smith will allow Jay to not have to worry about that position for several years. Is anybody not agreeing that Smith > Putzier?
Walter and Henson have entrenched starters in front of them. Bledsoe isn't getting any younger, but perhaps Henson isn't going to get to replace him either. Walter is also an unknown but maybe in a little better situation. Neither is worth considering a veto over.
So I rent Horn for a year or two in exchange for an unknown 2nd next year and a very nice TE. What's the problem here? You would say that I overpaid if you only think Horn will play for one more year.

He's right. I had to add the extra player to keep us both at 26.

Oh, and nevermind that Horn's salary is around $4.5m and more starting next year (contract through 2010, but he'll never see much of that money).

there's no problem....I think you got a great deal. You add a WR to a roster with a legitimate title shot. I just can't imagine going into a season, dynasty or not, where you trade your best WR (maybe player) for a back-up TE.
We obviously won't know how the trade really works out until we see Jay's 2nd round pick next year.
For his sake...I hope it works out like the Corey Dillon for Reggie Bush trade from this year...

Last Sept I traded Eric Moulds for Steebo's 2nd. So I got Marcedes Lewis and he got Eric Moulds. I got what I could for an old WR. He wouldn't have started much for me - maybe when Moss was hurt and McCardell was in his no-show period. But you can't trade old talent for studs - it just doesn't happen.
Jay now has to rebuild one less position. And he's got an extra tool to use in rebuilding another. Horn wasn't going to make him win the Doom Bowl anyway. Three years from now, when the rebuilding project will have turned the corner for him, Smith and that '07 2nd will still be on his roster while Horn will be retired.

Here's my perspective. I'm not going to be competitive this year with Horn or not. I think Horn has 1 or 2 years max left. If I wait until the end of the year to trade him, there's a chance I get nothing. This year's draft blows donkey chunks. I project next year's draft to be significantly better. Going price for really old WR is a high second round pick. I think galt's second round pick will be too low for value. I make him sweeten the deal. I think LJ is a top 5 tight end, and I'm not that keen on Walter. Done deal.

I agree with a lot of that...I'm high on Horn this season. That team has added a lot of weapons. Personally I would've held onto him for a portion of the season for either a higher pick or younger accomplished WR.
just my opinion...I can still tell you how bad your teams sucks...right?

I think Horn's knee is one more shot from retirement and it wasn't a risk I wanted to take. I also don't think Brees is as physically equipped to get Horn the ball as Brooks was. As dumb as Brooks was, he had a nice arm and he had eyes for Horn.
I know my team is bad. You can say it if you want.....I'll know it's bad, regardless of what you say. :poo:

Meaning that you'll edit that first response above reversing it, right?
Also, the voting vote means that this vote prolly needn't happen anyway.

yeah...I was kidding with my initial vote, because I though we had voted that it was pointless to vote on trades.
Also fixed.

We still need to await Steebo to see if he'll veto it. I doubt he will, but maybe.
