# 31 -- Derrick Williams, WR, Penn St.
Class: SO
Height: 6-0
Weight: 201 lbs.
Hometown: Greenbelt, Maryland
High School: Eleanor Roosevelt
Career Stats:
Receiving Stats
YEAR TEAM REC YDS AVG LNG TD FD FUM LOST
2005 PSU 22 289 13.1 41 1 0 0 0
Rushing Stats
YEAR TEAM ATT YDS AVG LNG TD FD FUM LOST
2005 PSU 22 105 4.8 20 3 0 0 0
Who is he:
Derrick Williams is someone who I easily can see jumping well into the top 10 best players in the nation this year. He was the top recruit and played right from the start last year as a true freshman. He's a game changer every time he steps on the field and is one of the best weapons in the land. An injury shortened his Freshman season, which is the reason for him having less than 500 total career yards. That said, I think he easily deserves his spot at #31 on this list. I actually had him higher at one point, but couldn't justify his ranking with what he's accomplished to this point. He's a definite force though, and expect him to carry Penn St. on offense this year.
Notes:
#1 Recruit in the Nation for the Class of 2005
What to Expect in ’06:
Williams lines up primarily at WR, but will also take snaps at RB sometimes and will get the ball often on reverses. expect his #s to go up if he plays the full year (he should be fully recovered), but maybe not as good as they should be since PSU is breaking in a new QB (albeit a highly touted one).
Projections: 60 Receptions 850 yards -- 20 carries 160 yards -- 10 total TDs
